The biggest problem that one faces in big cities is maintaining the security of home. Burglary and theft are relevant these days and it’s absolutely necessary to make some safety arrangements for their home against such cases. Hence having a puppy at home serves the dual purpose of securing the home against the thieves and having a pet for their home.

There are several agencies in the world which rear and supply dogs for the needy people. Even though there are several breeds of dogs which are being reared by the people, bulldogs are favorite for most of the people for their several special qualities which are lacking in other animals. The bulldogs are considered as the most obedient of the dogs and the cutest ones. Hence there are several dog breeding companies which breed these dogs especially for the needy people and supply to them.

Rearing a dog is not an easy task. Dogs are also like human beings and they too have a lot of sentiments. They are quite different from other animals and have a lot of attachment to their owners. Several qualities that one can see in a dog are lacking in other animals. Every dog is different from other dog, like the individual differences which exist between different human beings. Different dogs may adjust to different conditions in different ways. Hence understanding the psychology of the dog is also important in dog breeding. The companies have experts who have understood the dog psychology very well and they rear every dog according to its requirement.

Dog is perhaps one of the pets having the most complex behavior. They are famous for their loyalty towards their owner. Even though it is so, not every dog can adjust to every kind of environment perfectly. Hence there are agencies which breed the dogs and study their behavior and help the people to get the perfect dog for their home.

The health of the dog is also very important while breeding the dog. There are several diseases to which the dogs become prone to. Rabies is the most important disease to which the dogs are prone to. Hence vaccinating them is also very important. They are also easily prone to several other types of diseases like some allergies and skin diseases. The dog breeders take care of every such disease and vaccinate them properly time to time. They also take care of the dogs when they become sick. The health of dogs, in fact that of any pet animal, is very fragile compared to the health of any wild animal. Hence proper care must be taken of their health, otherwise they will die of even an ordinary, harmless disorder like slight fever etc. the agencies know it very well and they take care of such problems.

Thus in order to have a pet dog for home, all that one needs to do is to make a call to the agency and specify their needs and their dreams about the pet dog. The agencies study the behavior of different dogs present in their collection and select the best one according to the needs of the customer.

Are you looking for a quality kennel for your pet that is comfortable, sturdy and low maintenance? Kennels provide shelter to your little companion and is an important addition in a home if you are a dog owner. A dog kennel manufacturer has various options of domestic and commercial kennels that will suit your requirement. The manufacturers concentrate both on the design and the materials used for the kennel to offer a product of value to the customers. The kennel systems should be such that you should not have to worry about repair or replacement for years. There are different types of dog kennels in the market and you can explore the options to know what suits you, your home and your dog the best. The article gives a brief account of the different kennels available.

Kennels are available in both galvanized steel and plastic or a combination of both. Dog kennel manufacturer uses the highest quality steel and plastic sheets to design and construct a stable and long-lasting kennel. Chatsworth kennels, for example, are strong and practical systems that are made of a steel box and covered with a plastic coated steel roof. The floor too is made of plastic sheets as against wood to prevent decay. The kennels are exclusively designed to prevent damage from scratches and chewing. This airy kennel is perfect for your dogs and will keep them safe and secured. Choose a manufacturer that supplies quality kennel systems to the clients. The Bowland range can house several dogs and is bigger than Chatsworth kennel. The sleeping box too is larger.

You can get in touch with a dog kennel manufacturer in your vicinity for Blenheim. This kennel has the specifications of a Chatsworth kennel but is available in both mesh and bar variety. You can also invest in free-standing kennel boxes that are designed for internal use. Made of plastic and galvanized steel these boxes can be cleaned easily and like others are chew proof. If you require external kennel box, it comes with a sliding hatch door for easy cleaning. Thus there are many options in kennel systems whether you require it in your home or external use. If you own a cattery or a pet house you will require multiple kennels or the ones that accommodate more than one dog. The kennels can be built according to your needs and specifications.

While choosing a dog kennel manufacturer pay attention to the quality of the products supplied by them. Also focus on the design of the kennel systems and whether they are constructed in the best interest of your pet. Make sure that they meet the highest standards required for a kennel. You should select a manufacture that merges aesthetics with practical use of the kennels. The kennels today should be damage free, low maintenance, sturdy and affordable. You can get in touch with them about your requirements and find out whether they can customize the kennels for you depending on the space available, number of dogs etc.

Traveling by air with a pet can be a challenge. If you have a dog small enough to fit comfortably in an airline approved carrier that slides under the seat in front of you, it’s much easier. If your dog is not a service animal or small enough to travel in-cabin, you’re almost better off to drive to the destination. Placing an animal in cargo has a mountain of risks associated with it.

There are actual horror stories about the trauma animals have suffered during air travel by cargo. There was a period of time where it seemed these stories where prevalent in news headlines. Most airlines have since attempted to improve their service to animals in cargo but there are still many factors they cannot control. To begin with the stress from simply being separated from you can be devastating to a dog. Add to that the air temp which will usually be extreme to one end of the thermostat or the other and the noise of it all is a definite recipe for disaster. God forbid you should hit turbulence while flying with a pet in cargo! I can’t even imagine what goes through their minds being isolated, cold (or hot) and dealing with the deafening sounds of the jet engines accompanied by the banging and rattling of other cargo items! By the time you land, you have an animal who is a nervous wreck at best. Personally I would never recommend flying with an animal who has to be taken to cargo.

If you have a small dog, it can still be challenging, especially if the dog has never flown before and is an adult. But if he or she knows you are right there with them, it helps. The first thing you need to do is find out the airlines policy on traveling with pets. Each airline is different. They have restrictions on the types of pet, size of the pet and the number of pets allowed per carrier as well as carrier requirements. But all airlines have one common rule; the animal is NOT to be removed from the carrier while in flight. Now granted, while I was traveling with my 3 month old Chihuahua, I would stick him inside my jacket and hold him during the flight on the first 3 or 4 trips he took to help ease his nervousness. But this was all done on the down low; added attention was not what I needed! I avoided letting the person sitting next to me be aware of what I was doing, let alone any flight attendants!

Once you know the airline rules, research the airports you will be in. Pay close attention to the airports where you will have long layovers. Many airports are pet friendly enough to provide pet relief stations. You typically need someone’s assistance to reach these areas, but if the dog needs a potty break he can get one. I actually trained my dog to use puppy pads so if a pet area was not available I could take him to the rest room and put him on a puppy pad. Or while sitting at the gate I could lay down a puppy pad under my seat to help avoid unwanted accidents. Some airports tag themselves as pet friendly and will allow you to put your dog on a leash while in the terminal. Restaurants can be another challenge, but most will allow a pet in as long as it remains in the carrier and on the floor. Others are friendlier and may even be willing to provide a bowl of water. If you travel with your pet regularly you will learn where your best pet friendly options are.

If this is the first flight or first trip for your pet, do not go buy a carrier the night before and then stuff the dog in it the next day for the first time and expect to have a good trip. Buy a carrier well enough in advance that you can let the dog get used to it beforehand. Leave it in the house with the door open so he or she can explore it. Place a familiar blanket or t-shirt in it along with a toy and chew stick. Chew toys can be useful in allowing the dog a way to release nervousness. Since they will be spending multiple hours in the carrier, being comfortable and feeling secure will help the trip.

One of the best things you can do is limited what your dog eats and when; especially on the first trip or if your dog is a nervous traveler. We have one Chihuahua, my husbands, who does not travel as much as my little guy does. My husband took him on his first trip and it was a horrible experience for both of them. Not quite realizing how nervous he would be, my husband allowed him to have breakfast just before leaving. Well let’s just say there was a very stinky and messy incident which thankfully took place prior to boarding. Had the incident happened while on the plane, it would NOT have been a good scene! Limit what you give your dog to eat if he or she is not experienced with air travel. If your trip will take most of the day and you want to feed him something, feed him at least 3 hours prior to leaving for the airport. The best solution is to avoid feeding him or her until you get to your destination. If nerves do become a problem he or she won’t get hungry anyway.

Withholding food is easy enough, but withholding water is another story. You will want to be able to offer your dog a drink at least once during the trip. Nerves can cause them to get thirsty which if not satisfied leads to more stress. You can find collapsible bowls or measuring cups that work excellent for traveling. When not in use they collapse flat for easy storage. Allow enough water to keep him hydrated.

Another good trick is to actually allow for time to stop by a park before you get to the airport. Let your dog out to run off some energy and take care of business before getting to the airport. This will at the very least give him or her the opportunity to empty the bladder! Releasing some energy is good as well since it might help him or her calm down a bit once you get to the airport. If you anticipate your pet being nervous you can also check with your veterinarian about a mild sedative to help calm the nerves. Although I personally have never had any luck with this option. Your presence, along with being attentive and reassuring them that everything is ok, can often times be enough to help with the nervousness. If you are familiar with essential oils, you may be able to provide some relaxing and calming aromatherapy during the trip also.

Don’t be afraid to let people know if the pet is nervous and should be left alone. In my experience most flyers are aware of this fact and cautious about petting unfamiliar animals. Children are the biggest problem I have; not all of them have been raised to understand the boundaries of approaching unfamiliar pets. If the parent is not keeping an eye on them, they can get very excited about seeing a dog in the airport and try to pet him. If your pet is nervous, even if you do not believe they would bite someone, play it safe, politely ask people to leave him alone. The last thing you need during your trip is a stranger who has been bitten by your otherwise friendly and loving companion! Stress can have an enormous impact on their normal behavior.

With consideration to these primary concerns, some patience and understanding, you can help reduce the stress both you and your pet may experience during your first air travel trip.

The case of dogs is not like the humans who feel comfortable even when sitting for long hours. Unlike people who can merely sit in front of the TV or use the computer all day, dogs are naturally active and they love to wander around and explore as their way to enjoy life.

That is why when your dog falls ill or worse becomes disabled, you can feel its sadness deeply over its situation. A paralyzed dog is same as a dead one. It can't go around and therefore can't follow whatever provokes his sense of smell. It is prevented from running and playing with you if it wants to. In many ways, your dog ceases to have the life of a dog.

Being a pet lover, you simply can't take away the happiness from your paralyzed dog. If modern veterinary medicine can find any total cure for the cause of the paralysis or disability of your dog, you must at least lessen its suffering through giving him a means to move around. This you can do by attaching your dog to a dog wheelchair. This contraption can let your dog move around and experience being a naturally playful pet. This could also encourage your dog to exercise its bones and muscles, which is necessary for the rehabilitation of the paralyzed parts and the maintenance of its healthy body parts.

However, it is not that your pet would immediately like his dog wheelchair and he would right away run around the place. In fact, this may be uncomfortable for him at first instance. For a short while, you can act as a coach to your dog, motivating it to walk around the place and try the new contraption. This might be a surprise for you to see how your dog responds to your almost-effortless coaching. What it takes after all is a bit of encouraging and your pet dog to always do what it always wanted to do, which is to roam around the house and the yard to enjoy and to watch over the property at the same time.

With all the companionship and love that our dogs give so freely, it's hard to imagine that some owners just don't take responsibility for their dogs. But it's true. Millions of dogs—healthy dogs—are euthanized every year. Whether through owner neglect or owner ignorance, millions of healthy dogs will endure the same fate this year. So what's a responsible dog owner to do? The best thing you can do, as a dog owner, is to ensure that your dog doesn't become a statistic, and you do that through responsible pet ownership.

Welcoming a new dog into your house means taking on additional long-term responsibility. Many new dog owners find something cute or romantic about bringing that puppy in the window home until they realize that there's a modicum of work involved in caring for that cute, adorable little face, and a price to pay for those wet, slobbering kisses. You wouldn't expect to return a baby. Its' no less wrong to return a dog when the novelty wears off, and it ought to be criminal to leave a dog somewhere on its own. In many ways, dogs are as vulnerable as newborn infants are, but dogs are dependent upon their owners for their entire lives.

Listed below you'll find basic steps to responsible dog ownership, and many of them are just common-sense rules of the road.

1. Selecting Your Dog – Turn to a local animal shelter or rescue operation to select a puppy or dog. Remember that older dogs need loving owners too. Refuse to purchase a puppy or dog that started life in a puppy mill.

2. Test Your Dog – Contact a veterinarian and ask him to run the usual series of tests on your new companion.

3. Spay or Neuter Your Dog – Responsible pet owners always spay and neuter their dogs and cats. There are far more dogs waiting for adoption than there are owners to adopt them.

4. Provide Medical Care – Aside from the annual physical examination and vaccinations, protect your dog from heartworm, ticks and fleas. Talk with your vet about the many options available today. Contact your vet at the first sign that something is wrong with your dog.

5. Provide Adequate Food and Water – Provide food suited to your dog's age, size and condition.

6. Walk Your Dog – Your dog will let you know when it needs to be walked.

7. Provide Exercise and Recreation – Provide ample space, dog toys and opportunity for your pet to exercise. If you haven't thrown a Frisbee in twenty years, you'll be surprised at how much fun it is to try to outsmart your dog—unlikely!

8. Protect Your Dog from Abuse – Animal cruelty is serious business, and in some states, it's a felony. Even the FBI acknowledged that animal cruelty is a known marker (future indicator) of violence against humans. If anyone in your house intentionally mistreats your dog, seek help immediately. You could thwart the next school shooting.

9. Discourage Aggressive Behavior – You'll know the difference between hearty play and aggressive behavior. Contact your vet at the first sign of aggressive behavior to discuss your options.

10. Coping with Serious Illness and Geriatric Dogs –Geriatric dogs are prone to many of the same illnesses that plague geriatric humans. You'll want to do everything in your power to keep your dog comfortable at the end, but at some point, it may become necessary to end the suffering. If you've been a responsible dog owner throughout the dog's life, you'll want to end that life just as responsibly as you cared for it.

An important part of keeping your cat healthly and happy is checking and cleaning their ears. Because the ears are one of the few parts that cats can not reach themselves they need a little help from a loving owner. Keeping your cats ears clean is extremely important because any unremoved dirt, debris, or wax can clog the ears and cause infections. Regular ear cleaning at home augment's your cats own natural grooming habits.

1. How to check the ears

During petting, casually check your cats ears for discharge, redness, unpleasant smell, swelling, and even lumps. Also observe your cat's behaviour, if he often scratches or paws at his ears (and sometimes even shakes his head often), then he might be feeling discomfort in the ear area.

If you notice that your cats ears are becoming painful or inflamed, visit a veterinarian as soon as possible. The veterinarian has the equipment to look deep into your cat's ear canal and give an accurate diagnosis. The veterinarian will determine if allergies, skin conditions, ear mites, bacteria, yeasts, and fungi are causing ear diseases. Seek early treatment, or your cat's ear condition may become too late to heal.

2. How to clean the ears

Ask your veterinarian for gentle ear cleaning solutions you can use to keep your cats ears clean. These special solutions are effective in removing excess wax, moisture, and debris from your cat's outer ear canal. Be sure to use only solutions that are specifically formulated for cats. Avoid medicated solutions, unless your veterinarian advises you to use it.

Different solutions are administered differently, but most of them require you to follow these steps.

* You typically only need a few drops of the ear solution. Squeeze the bottle and let a few drops fall on into your cat's ear canal.

* Start massaging the base of your cats ear gently. You should hear a 'squelch' while you do this. Repeat the same procedure with the other ear. After both ears have been cleaned, let your cat shake its head, this loosens the waxes.

NOTE: Stop massaging immediately if your cat feels pain, and then take your cat to the veterinarian if you haven't already done so.

* Wipe the solution by wrapping your forefinger with cotton wool, this should clean off wax and debris. Do this gently though and do not poke in too deep, or you might hurt your cats eardrum.

It is recommended not to use cotton buds, which can injure the ear canals' sensitive lining.

Do you have a pet dog or cat in your house?

We treat them as part of the household; we are obliged to give proper care and attention for them to make them look good and healthy, just like what we are doing to other family members.

There are different pet parlors where you can bring your pet dogs and cats to have them groomed properly. Pet parlor owners also give some basic home pet grooming tips and advices for pet owners to follow so that they can personally attend to their pets' grooming needs.

Have your Dog the Best Look

Pet dogs are one of the most adventurous pet animals. They tend to explore— different parts of the house, backyard, and even in the streets. Because of this, they acquire different smell (a stinky one, for instance), their furs are stained, and different parasites sticks to their body and make them itchy.

Proper hygiene practices that are similar to human beings are one of the basics in dog grooming. It is important that you give your dog the best bath. Below are the tips to help you bathe your dog successfully.

• Prepare the bathtub and the bath supplies that you will use in bathing your pet dog. Make the bathroom comfortably warm so that you can encourage your dog to have it bathe. Gather all the pet bath supplies such as dog shampoo, bucket, towel, and hair dryer that will be used before bringing them into the bathroom.

• After you have gathered these bath supplies, bring your dog to the bathroom. Pet them and make them comfortable while you are waiting for the water to reach a soothing temperature ideal for them.

• Bathe them in the tub by using a bucket to splash water on their body. You can also use a hose with a sprayer on the end.

• Use medicated dog shampoos against fleas and ticks. You can also have shampoos of sweet scent and good for your dog's sensitive skin.

• Just a reminder: Never use dish soaps or your own shampoo because it will plague your dog with painful skin irritations. If you are not sure of what dog shampoos and soaps are fit for them, consult your veterinarian first.

• Once you have splashed their body with water, apply now their shampoo. Be sure that you will not let the shampoo reach their eyes. Massage their body carefully. Rinse it with water once again.

• Dry them using a towel first. Wipe their paws gently. Give extra attention to their ears, for any moisture cam lead to wax and bacteria build up that can lead to ear infections.

• Then use a hair dryer. Set the dryer to its medium setting and place it at least six inches from your dog's fur so that it will not burn. Continue drying until their furs are dry, but not completely. Then brush through their hair as you dry it to give it style.

Hydrophobic Cat Grooming Tips

It is a well-known fact that cats are really afraid of water. It is a challenge for you to lure your pet cat to take a bathe. Here are some pointers that you can consider in bathing your pet:

• Make the water warm. Cats have high body temperature than ours, so it will make them comfortable if you will bathe them in warm water. Nevertheless, it must not be too hot for them.

• Have them bathe in a flat surface. You can also place it in a rubber mat so that they will not slip.

• Splash a little amount of water on their body. Use a hose with sprayer if necessary.

• Apply a little amount of cat shampoo in their furs. Be sure it will not get into their eyes or else it will irritate them. Use shampoos specifically intended for them.

• After rinsing, dry them by using a towel and then later on a hair dryer in medium setting. Be sure you will not dry their furs completely. Use a brush to style their furs.

So there you have the basic tips in grooming your pet dogs and cats. Make them the most-groomed pets you ever had.

Fleas are the most common external parasite of pets in North America. Fleas are small wingless insects that use their specialized mouth to pierce the skin and siphon blood from their host. When a flea bites, it injects a small amount of saliva into the skin to prevent the blood from coagulating. Some animals become sensitized to flea saliva and animals that are allergic can have severe itching and scratching from a single bite. Flea allergy dermatitis is the most common disease among dogs.

Current flea control products are primarily either oral or topical systemic treatments. Most of the products may be used for prevention as well as to treat existing flea problems. One group of products control fleas by interrupting their development by killing or stopping the maturation of flea larvae and eggs. These drugs are called Insect Growth Regulators (IGRs). One common oral product used is lufenuron which is found in the Program® line of products which are administered orally in tablet or liquid form. Methoprene and pyriproxifen are also IGRs that are available as sprays or collars. The FDA shares regulation of these products with the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Because even the same products from other countries have not been approved by these agencies, it is illegal to purchase or import these products for use in the United States.

Currently the most popular flea control products kill adult fleas (adulticide), are applied topically and work rapidly. Popular topical products utilize fipronil which is the key ingredient in Frontline® Top Spot and imidacloprid which is in Advantage®. The most popular product on the market, Frontline Plus®, utilizes both an adulticide and an IGR. An oral adulticide that is also available is nitenpyram which is in Capstar® and begins to kill fleas in 30 minutes. Frontline Plus also kills ticks which makes it the most popular product where ongoing tick protection is required.

Consult with your veterinarian to determine which flea and tick control products are best for you. The choice of flea control will depend on your climate, environment, your pet's activities, and potential for exposure. However, with consistent use, it is almost always possible to control your flea problem. Using these products throughout the year typically will eliminate the need for regular insecticidal use. The following provide additional summary information on selected popular products.

Program from Novartis®

Program is available as a once a month pill or oral liquid suspension to be given with a full meal. Adult fleas that ingest Program's key ingredient, lufenuron, produce sterile eggs. Program does not kill adult fleas so pets remain susceptible to fleas hatching and maturing pupa already present in the environment. Therefore, some time may pass before the all fleas are killed in an environment. In order to stop the life cycle, every animal in the environment must receive lufenuron. Pets should also be sprayed with an adulticide during the first week or two of starting Program.

Advantage from Bayer®

Advantage is applied topically on both dogs and cats and seems to be very well-tolerated by sensitive cats. Advantage kills fleas within 24 hours and 100% protection can be maintained for cats for 21 days and 90% protection can be maintained for dogs for 28 days. Advantage is susceptible to washing off so dogs that are active outdoors and dogs that swim or must be bathed frequently should be re-treated frequently. Up to weekly re-treatment is allowed. The imidacloprid in Advantage does not effect ticks, but K-9Advantix, with permethrin does. K9 Advantix is only labeled for once a month K9 Advantix is ONLY FOR USE WITH DOGS and MUST NOT BE ADMINISTERED TO CATS.

Frontline Spray, Frontline Plus And Frontline Top Spot from Merial®

Frontline Spray, Frontline Plus, and Frontline Top Spot comprise the market leading Frontline flea control product line. The fipronil in Frontline products is a broad spectrum insecticide available as a spray or topical. Fipronil works by binding chemically to the pet's hair and is absorbed through the follicle by the sebaceous glands. Man's best friend is living longer than ever. This is due to our beloved canines' increased status as family member and families becoming conscientious about providing their dogs' appropriate veterinary care. As a result, we are faced with a variety of health care issues as they age. No matter which health issue you and your elderly dog may be dealing with, there are several components of good pet care you may wish keep in mind.

•The first is to make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise and is not overweight. Much like humans, an overweight elderly dog will not cope as well with conditions common in older pets such as arthritis.

•The second is to provide proper nutrition for the elderly dog. Older dogs do not need the same amount of calories as a younger dog. The older dog slows down a bit and, therefore, should consume fewer calories per day. Depending upon the specific issues facing your elderly dog, you may need to add some supplements to your dog's meals. Supplements such as glucosamine can be very helpful for elderly dogs with sore joints.

•Third, be aware of changes in your dog's behavior. These may include variations in food and water intake and elimination, as well as emotional changes such as lethargy. You are the expert on your pet and know best how (s)he behaves when (s)he is feeling good. Make note of subtle events as such as walking into a room and realizing Spanky doesn't seem to hear you as well as she did; this could be the start of hearing loss. This is common for dogs, as is some diminished sight capacity. Your challenge as the dog owner is to figure out how to best accommodate your dog's reduced sensory capabilities. Do you need to change your environment to make sure your dog is safe? For the sight impaired dog, a baby gate over a stairway would prevent an accident. For the hearing impaired dog, many simple commands such as "sit," "stay," and "stop" have sign language equivalents which will be helpful for them to learn.

•Fourth, note that old dogs can and should learn new tricks! Keeping your elderly dog engaged mentally stimulates them and provides another outlet for their spirit as their physical abilities decline. As a dog owner, you are most familiar with your dog's strengths. You are able to create games and tricks which help them use their strengths and challenge them in areas where they are not as strong. For ideas, the internet is a vast resource!

•Fifth, veterinarians now recommend that elderly dogs receive checkups every six months. Keep rigorously to this schedule and you will be better able to handle any health issues which may arise. If you do suspect something is wrong with your pet, do not delay in acting. No matter what the health issue, the earlier your pet is seen by the vet, the better chance of proper diagnosis and treatment.

•Sixth, be resourceful. Be aware of not only traditional veterinary solutions for your pet, but also investigate possible holistic alternatives such as acupuncture and herbal medicine. Do make sure any professional practicing these techniques has been appropriately licensed and accredited. If you choose to combine traditional veterinary solutions and holistic solutions for treatment of your pet, make sure each veterinarian with whom you are working understands what the other is doing. Traditional medicine and holistic medicine treatments may not always complement each other. Full disclosure with each vet is very important.

•Seventh, make sure your pet as comfortable as possible. As the aging pet has become a new demographic among pet supply stores, there are more products available to help owners keep their pets comfortable. Items range from ramps for those dogs not able to use stairs to special orthopedic beds for dogs with arthritis.

Ultimately, there will come a time when your pet is no longer comfortable. It is the final responsibility of the owner to decide when your pet's quality of life has declined to a point where pet euthanasia is absolutely the right thing to do. This decision is difficult and it is the time our pets need us the most. This is not an easy decision to make, but owners should be comforted by the fact they are acting humanely and in the best interest of their pet.

House training older dogs is a more delicate process than with younger dogs. If you are looking to adopt an older dog that was not previously exposed to any house training at a young age, it is going to bring along its bad habits such as chewing, excessive barking, making holes in the yard or "marking" the territory.

Furthermore, you will also experience more difficulties in house training older dogs as they tend to respond and progress much slower to most training methods and commands than younger dogs.

Here are 3 useful tips that can help you in house training older dogs successfully.

* First and foremost, a complete check-up at the vet is necessary in order to eliminate any existing health problems or complications such as urinary tract or flea infections. Older dogs may also experience some form of diarrhea if there is a sudden change from their previous dietary habits. Do not punish him for these "mistakes". Instead be patient and allow your dog a week to adapt to the changes gradually. If conditions did not improve, consult your vet.

* Always establish a routine schedule for eating and drinking for your dog. This helps you to easily monitor your dog's toilet habits and decide when to bring your pet out for a walk every time he or she finishes its meals. Most adult dogs tend to eliminate 30 - 45 minutes after eating or drinking. Learn the signs and watch out for clues of circling and sniffing the floor.

* Older dogs have shorter attention spans therefore more repetitions are needed during the house training process to reinforce the desired habits. Never use violence on them if they make a mess in the house. Scolding the dog is pointless unless you actually see it eliminating indoors. Use a firm voice command "No" and guide the dog to its designated spot. Praise or reward your dog when it relieves itself outdoors.

Therefore, house training an older dog successfully depend a lot on your consistency, discipline and perseverance. Treating the dog with patience and understanding, using the appropriate house training methods are the main ingredients to developing a well behaved adult dog with good toilet habits.

Your dog's body has a remarkable immune system of antibodies, which are protein substances produced by cells called lymphocytes, that destroy antigens that invade the body, such as viruses and bacteria.

This system can become supersensitive to such foreign particles as flea saliva, pollen, house dust, and wool, however, and this super sensitivity can produce chemicals that cause an allergy, a severe inflammatory reaction. Allergenic inhalant dermatitis has been well documented in dogs. It is caused by a super sensitivity to certain particles in the air, such as pollen from trees, ragweed, grass, and other plants, house dust, feathers, and wool.

The allergy follows a predictable history:

1. It is inherited, so if the parents had it, the offspring probably will too.

2. It is seasonal - the signs appear about the same time every year.

3. The signs begin between six months and three years of age.

4. The signs include severe biting and scratching, licking the paws, sneezing, rubbing the face, and generalized redness of the skin.

Home treatment is directed toward symptomatic relief and avoiding the foreign particle, or allergen. Bathing your dog with a mild shampoo, (such as baby shampoo) will soothe any skin inflammation and remove any allergens on the hair coat. Calamine lotion can be applied to the irritated skin, and hydrogen peroxide (3 percent), and antibiotic ointments are also helpful.

Your veterinarian will take time to get a good history. He or she may be able to identify the allergen in your pet's environment. If allergic inhalant dermatitis is the problem, most veterinarians at this time use a low dose of steroids to relieve the signs. However, steroids, even in low dose, should mot be given for long-term treatment because they have some very serious side effects.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns do not be afraid to contact your veterinarian.

If you're an ordinary person who loves dogs and has one or would like to have one, you may be overwhelmed by the amount of information on dog ownership, training and nutrition available to you online and elsewhere.

A well trained and healthy dog is one of life's great pleasures. In fact, after family and friends, dogs are the most important creatures in our lives In fact, dogs are our best friends! My family always had dogs when I was a kid; I remember them all well. One of my childhood's saddest memories was when our corgi Taffy, a pretty fiery little fellow, got run over on Guy Fawke's Nite. My father and I tended to his injuries, but he died from them.

The point is that dogs may not be human, but they may as well be, for the emotions they arouse and the love and devotion they give us if they are well treated. Don't they deserve the best we can give them?

Some of the things I believe everyone who has a dog should understand are very simple to apply to ensure you have a healthy, well-trained dog who loves you and will be your best friend for life:

#1. Treat your dog as you would treat any other member of your family; dogs respond to love, care and attention just like the rest of us. Our Marty is a Shitszu-Fox terrier cross, absolutely adorable, and the poor little bloke gets hugs and kisses all day long. He sleeps on our bed!

#2. Be sure your dog knows who's boss: be firm but not physical. Dogs are like children - they need to know limits but they do not respond well to physical violence. In fact, Marty as a puppy received (unknown to us at the time) some very rough treatment from a dog groomer we took him to. He still reacts if we try to trim his feet.

#3. Feed your dog food that it likes to eat but is also good for it. There are plenty of dog foods available but make sure the one you choose for your dog is as natural as possible and not full of preservatives or additives that can and do cause ailments such as cancer. We have recently carried out an exercise in comparing dog foods, and the results were pretty bad. Good food is more expensive, but generally you need less of it, and its certainly better for the dog.

#4. Exercise your dog according to its needs. A big dog requires big exercise, a smaller one not so much. Exercise will enable your dog to burn off the energy they will otherwise spend on things they shouldn't. We find with Marty that, if we can't get him out for a walk, throwing and getting him to return a tennis ball gives him plenty of exercise. (He also tends to hoon around when the mood takes him ,which cracks us up!)

#5. Do not leave your dog at home all day alone. Dogs are social animals and need your company. On their own they get frustrated and bored (just as humans do). We take Marty where we can. Be very careful, though, that you don't leave your dog in a car for long in summer - they get heat-stressed very easily and can really suffer.

Some easy things I recommend you do for your dog (and you!):

Start training and good eating habits early! Take your puppy to a training school for basic tips and socialisation with other dogs and humans. Basic commands such as "sit" "stay" "heel" etc are very important and not difficult to implant if done properly;

Pick a pecking order of command givers in your family and stick to it. Dogs are pack animals and look to the alpha male;

Get a good vet and stick with him or her if you can. They will give you good advice on nutrition, vaccinations etc and will get to know your dog's history. This is really important if special treatment is needed at any time;

Unless you plan to breed, have your dog neutered at about 6 months; he will not wander and will generally lose any aggressiveness he might have. If your dog is a female and un-neutered, you will have to lock her in when she's on heat!;

We're all guilty of it - giving in to those big begging eyes pleading at us for a scrap from the table during dinner. Fido knows just how to get you to concede, and most of us justify that a little won't hurt, or we don't even think of the potential danger at all. But the truth is that human food can be harmful to your pet, and in some cases, can be fatal. It's important to know how certain foods can be unsafe so that you can avoid them for the sake of your animal.

Here is how a few of some of the most common "human foods" become harmful for pets:

Chocolate and other foods containing caffeine

Caffeine is one of the greatest culprits because it contains an alkaloid called theobromine. Theobromine acts as a cardiac stimulant and a diuretic, which in turn can cause a heart attack or other heart and nervous system problems in animals.

Onions and Garlic

Onions and garlic are potentially harmful due to the fact that both contain thiosulphate, which can damage red blood cells and cause anemia in cats and dogs. Of the two, onions are the most toxic, as consumption of simply one serving by your pet could result in anemia.

Milk

Milk can harm your pet due to the fact that many dogs and cats tend to be lactose intolerant. The consumption of milk and milk products by a lactose intolerant pet creates a breeding ground for bacteria, causing vomiting and diarrhea.

Bones

Bones, although commonly known as a great treat for your dog, are potentially very dangerous for pets. Once eaten, bones can splinter and get stuck in the intestines, causing damage or fatality. In most splinter cases, the bones must be removed surgically.

Other Foods

Other human foods to avoid when feeding your pet are: macadamia nuts, potato peelings and green-looking potatoes, rhubarb leaves, moldy/spoiled foods, alcohol, yeast dough, tomato leaves and stems, broccoli, and raisins or grapes.

Some human foods potentially cause only mild digestive upsets, while others can be fatal. Regardless of the level of danger, the best choice for your pet is to keep him from any potentially harmful foods in order to ensure his health and safety.

During the holiday season, veterinary clinics have noticed a rising in the number of pets that they treat for food-related illnesses. The increase in pet illness is due to the fact that animals are partaking in human foods during mealtime. Although not well known by the public, the consumption of human food to pets is potentially harmful to animals, and in some instances, can be fatal.

The rise in food-related illnesses by pets is a clear indication that the dangers of human food consumption by animals are not understood by the masses.

So, the next time your pet looks up at you with those pleading eyes, show him you care by doing what is truly best for him and feeding him only products meant for pet consumption. In the end, both you and your pet will be glad that you did.

There are canine that do not have unhealthy behaviors, and even when their homeowners are trying arduous to tech them to obey some easy instructions, these dogs are hardheaded. Chances are high, many owners would just dump them to canine pounds as a result of they are already fed up, and will no longer perceive the habits anymore.

This stuff ought to have been averted if obedience training was used and implemented. Largely obedience training in canine is used to create a groundwork from which the dog and his grasp will discover ways to successfully correspond to each other.

Moreover, obedience training can be employed by canine owners whose canine are behaving badly. It's one way of incorporating self-discipline in the dog's behavior. This sort of training makes him realize that certain behaviors are not allowed and that he mustn't act that way.

When obedience coaching is integrated to a dog's conduct, the canine, in flip, will be able to respond correctly with the correct habits that's expected of him to manifest.

Consequently, many canine homeowners are wondering whether or not it could be better if professional ought to handle their canine's obedience training. Normally, it needs knowledgeable coach or an obedience school to show the proper option to observe a command. Nevertheless, if the canine owner feels he can just do the same, then, there is no particular condition for that matter.

Nevertheless, whether the obedience training is completed at dwelling, by a professional coach, or in an obedience faculty, there are issues that should be thought of when incorporating this type of training. Here is a list of the issues that must be taken into account.

1. Enjoyable

Obedience coaching does not necessarily mean that strict rules ought to be imposed. It is because the canine is not conscious of the the explanation why he needs to be trained. Therefore, for him to answer the commands, the training should be done in such a manner that the canine sees the activity as something that's fun.

The dog would be capable of reply positively if he sees that every time he follows what he is asked to do, he will get rewards or praises, and that's having fun for them.

2. Consistency

In the course of the course of obedience coaching, it is actually essential to have consistency within the training. For example, if a canine was allowed to sit on the rug the other day and when the dog tried to take a seat on the rug at present, he was scolded. Issues like these should not be taken for granted. This can be very necessary to show the canines what he should and shouldn't do and keep on with it. Confusion will solely make the issues worst.

3. Obedience training instructor/coach

When folks choose to enroll their canine in an obedience class, you will need to analyze the trainer earlier than the owner leaves his dog. The character and character of the trainer is extremely important. They should be professional enough to know the right way to deal with the dog's behavior and how you can practice them properly.

4. Referrals

It is best not to strive new and unfamiliar obedience training schools. This may very well be actually dangerous both for you and in your dog. It will be better if canine homeowners will ask for some referrals from their veterinarians, dog breeders, or other people who can give their sincere opinions.

5. Prices

Not all obedience training colleges are created equal. They vary relying on the kind of providers that they offer. Due to this fact, it is best to think about the amount of fees that they supply and the dog homeowners ought to know how to analyze if the costs are worth it.

6. Strategies used within the coaching

It's highly advisable that dog homeowners should ponder first on the form of methods being used in the training. It is because some obedience coaching colleges don't use the suitable technique in training the dog. On this manner, canine owners don't get the outcomes that they'd paid for within the end.

Indeed, obedience coaching could be very helpful in fulfilling many of the canine's essential needs. It offers them one thing to direct their abilities and actions thereby making them reliable and completely happy pets.

Most individuals simply don't know this but one of many reasons why canine behave inappropriately is as a result of they don't have the correct path to guide their actions and that they're confused on how to reply appropriately with the environmental and social variables that they encounter.

With obedience coaching, canine will certainly be on their technique to happier and more enjoyable stick with their masters and the folks round them.

The pets are really our best friends but the question is, can we be there for them, as well. There is the time when our dog or cat needs us more than anything in the world and their fragile health condition can be a real problem sometimes. The hyperthyroidism is a very usual disease your cat can have, mostly after seven years of life.

Older cats don't have very strong immunity and years can really mark them in the worst way. Before the vet tries to treat this disease, it's important to think about feline hyperthyroidism prognosis and to be realistic about things that might happen.

1. Continuing the normal life - luckily, this disease can be treated today and the feline hyperthyroidism prognosis is generally great. You may choose do you want your cat to take medications forever, is it better allow the surgery or you think the radioactive iodine may be the best option. The thing is, this is very hard decision to make, and it depends not only of your budget, but also of other health issues your cat may have.

2. Recovery with no guarantees - your cat may start taking medications regularly, but negative feline hyperthyroidism prognosis can stay the same. In these cases, some symptoms may disappear, and others even increase, but that is the risk everyone must take. On the other side, there are cases when treatments must be repeated, mostly surgery that was not completely successful because of other health issues.

3. Fatal results - it some cases, the cats are just too sick or too old for any intervention. These interventions can also cause some further problems; for example, this kind of treatment can cause the kidney disease since the blood flow through the kidneys is increased and then, they can stop functioning normally. Older cats may not even handle the surgery or maybe they would not react to medications at all; in some cases, the heart failure may happen because of very strong and demanding treatment.

There is nothing one can do it order to prevent their cat from facing this disease, but the feline hyperthyroidism prognosis can make everyone realize that this can be very serious condition, and treatment is necessary, in one way or another. On the other hand, every surgery has some risks that must be taken, but results may be even better. The crucial thing is that you must organize follow-up blood and diagnostic test schedules for your cat if you want a wonderful time with her in the future.

When a cat has Feline Leukemia, his immune system will be compromised. Apart from this, he also develops anemia and the growth of abnormal tumors. He develops other diseases such as cancer. He will most likely live around 3.5 more years, as a majority of FeLV-infected cats do.

If you are a cat care giver, it is essential for you to know how you can prevent the spread of the disease among cats in your foster cat home. Knowledge and understanding of the disease, as well as other contagious diseases, can certainly be a big factor in lengthening the lives of cats.

Licking is one of the common forms of transmission as FeLV can be acquired through licking. Moreover, placenta-transmission (i.e. mother to baby) is also another common form. Kittens are more vulnerable to the condition because their immune system are still weak until they reach 4 months old, thus resistance to the disease is also not that strong.

The sad truth is that it takes awhile for symptoms to become evident. In fact, it could take months, or even years, before the symptoms show. Unless you get your cat tested, it is unlikely that you will find out if he has FeLV during the first few months that he has it.

How can you keep your cats safe from this rather deadly disease? Below are some of the things that you can do. Actually, these are what you SHOULD do, if you want to keep your cats free from FeLV, and this is particularly important if you have a foster cat home.

* First, keep your infected cats separate from healthy ones.
* Second, have your cats vaccinated. But before you do so, please bear in mind that the vaccines do not work for all cats.
* Third, test your cats, especially those that you own (if you have a foster cat home).
* Fourth, do not get more cats until the preceding fostered cats already have new owners.
* Fifth, make sure feeding plates are separated and always disinfected.
* Sixth, clean and disinfect their litter box at least two times a week.
* Lastly, if an FeLV-infected cat gets a new home, see to it that you inform the new owner of the cat's condition and educate him on how he can take care of the cat.

If you are a foster cat caregiver, you are taking on a huge responsibility of ensuring that the cats are kept healthy. This is particularly important if you also have your own cats, on top of the foster cats. Always see to it that you have your cats tested for FeLV and other transmittable diseases.

You run the risk of spreading diseases if you have many cats in your home but if you have a good understanding on the dos and don'ts, then you should not have a problem keeping every cat safe and healthy. Additionally, you might also want to consider getting cat health insurance plan as the management of feline cancer or other diseases brought about by Feline Leukemia entails costs that may really hurt your budget.

First of all, forget any of the cat products. If it makes any type of whirling noise or has anything to do with their toe nails - you might just be wasting your money. No cat is going to set still while you are messy with her toe nails with some whirling thing that makes even the tiniest bit of noise. Cats are just not built that way. As for the dog products this household has not tested any since there is no dog living here.

Along with all of these, Royal Canin offers specific diet created for cats of different breeds. These products take into consideration the individual needs of a particular cat breed and cater to them.

You might have said no thanks to some of these products since after adding shipping and delivery they seem less of a bargain and more of a hassle. Just recently, these products have begun being sold in different discount stores as well as at some drugstores and also on the internet. So no longer are these "buy me but I break immediately" products such a hassle to get - in fact some of them have turn rather mainstream. And (surprise, surprise) some of them are really decent products where you do get a ROI or return on your investment.

There are a couple things which a cat looks for in appealing furniture. Stability is a major factor. If a furnishing does not seem strong or sturdy enough to handle rough clawing it will be unappealing.

Also available is nutritious food for diabetic cats. Royal Canin Veterinary Diet for Diabetic cats regulates the glucose supply and provides proper nutrition for it.

If it is at all possible, you should start crate training you cat when he is still a kitten. If he learns early-on that the crate is not something to be hated or feared, trips to the vet will be that much easier in his later years. Older cats can still be trained with the following method, but will take more time and patience from the owner!

Cuts Through Plastic Packaging

The next step is to simply make the crate or cage as comfortable as possible for the cat and make it accessible at all times. You want to make the crate a "safe zone" for your cat. Keep it close to his litter box and food - you can even place either or both within the crate if there is room. Whenever you put him in the crate or see him in it, give him a treat. You can also place treats in the crate when it is unoccupied for your cat to find later - you want the cat to see the crate as a good place and associate it with good things.

It is certain that everyone at one time or another have been watching TV late at night and have seen those late night infomercials. Many of these products, you can just tell by looking that the first time you use them they are going to break. But after some research, some of these "as see on TV" products might be worth taking a second look at.

Bed: These are not vital as most cats and kittens are happy to sleep anywhere. If you do want a bed for your cat, there are many designs to choose from, but don't expect your cat to sleep in it all the time.

It will take time and patience (especially with older cats), but a crate can be made into a "safe haven" for the cat whenever he feels uncomfortable or threatened - or simply wants to be left alone. If your cat runs and hides when you have company over, you can make the crate into the place he goes willingly with just a little training.

When using commercial food whether wet or dry always use a quality brand, as a cheap cat food often contains too much cereal and not enough protein.

If you are a dog enthusiast just like me then once the playtime has ended and the water and food bowl are full your next concern is probably the overall health of your hound. While many dogs are very resilient they aren't indestructible. Canine health problems can range from straightforward parasitic problems like ticks and fleas to complete internal health concerns. Let's take a look at dogs in general and what they want to stay happy and healthy.

Dog health care involves the complete dog, not just one specific area. The fundamental requirements are good food, water that is clean and exercise together with a clean area to live in with the waste material removed often. Some dogs appear to really like the odor and taste of animal waste, so it is important to keep them from eating it as it can contain worms as well as other diseases.

The various ages and kinds of dogs require various types of food; for instance, you feed a puppy a different diet then you do a bigger mature dog. A lot of the cheaper foods available have additives in them that aren't healthy for a dog to eat. One method to increase the health of your dog and avoid canine health problems is to read the nutrition labels to determine what is in their food and to prevent feeding your dog foods that can cause difficulties with their digestion.

Be Proactive Towards Dog Health Issues

As with health problems among humans, a proactive strategy is best. This might mean educating yourself as to the needs of your dog and remembering that some breeds tend to be more susceptible to problems with bones or hip displacement whereas other highly developed and special breeds may have tendencies to other problems. If you get educated on what is the distinction between a small problem and what's the root disease, it can mean a lot of time, effort and cash saved in the treatment and cure of canine health problems.

The very best method of treatment is to cure the illness rather than treating the symptoms. This might include homeopathic or other treatments for some issues. One example of this is to use natural ways of controlling fleas or ticks, including common herbs that can be sprinkled in their bedding. Using this method minimizes harmful powder from being absorbed through the skin and into the underlying tissues and organs.

Along with digestive problems and genetically prone tendencies, there are common canine health problems that may happen especially if your dog tends to be left alone for any significant time period. Dogs, like humans need others of their kind to be happy and healthy. Being left alone can cause depressive disorders and owner separation anxiety. There is also the possibility your dog could dig his way out of the yard and become a stray and get into fights with other dogs.

Many canine health problems can be found early if you pay attention to your dog and what bowel and bladder habits she or he has along with their diet. If you notice a sudden change in these habits then you might want to have your dog looked over, particularly if there are dark spots in the feces or if your dog has trouble during his or her toilet time. Monitor what your pet eats and any abnormal reaction, this way you can find out if there are any allergens involved. If so then you can find a food that does not include what they're allergic to and steer clear of the issues.

Pet insurance is one of those topics that's discussed amongst canine owners. Some owners don't see a requirement for it yet others do, particularly if they have a breed of canine that's susceptible to developing canine health problems later. Insurance coverage can help save some costs in vet bills by covering the costs of any procedures or treatments that might be necessary for your dog health care.

Most canine health problems can be found early and handled when owners take the time to educate themselves regarding their dogs and the problems and situations that could occur and how to proceed in an emergency scenario. This knowledge can save your pet's life and let you make a difference if something does happen. Dog health is a matter of responsibility and caring, therefore owners ought to be proactive in keeping educated about their lifelong companion and friend.

If your cat is peeing on bed, clothes and everywhere then your cat is trying to tell you something!

Find you cat's irrespective urination

When your cat starts urine inside the home and peeing everywhere, we will not definitely like it and will look for the prompt solution. We should find the actual problem and look forward about it further.

Find the problem

You should find firstly that the pee doesn't belong is determine it may because of spraying or irrespective urination. They cats spraying because of making their area limit. And the irrespective urination will be a big puddle.

You should need to see the urination outside of the litter box fastly, before it changes as normal activity of your cat. If your cat is spraying continuously, then make sure whether the cat feels more comfortable in its area limit, that's what your cats goes sad in its mentality. If you have more than one cat, better you can give separate living areas and its area limit separately.

Clean the dirty
You must clean completely where you cat peed everywhere. And you must also confirm that cleared the bad smell not only for your comfort, it must be also for your cat to come again for those peed places.

Add extra litter box

You can add the extra litter box. And also you can keep in your mind ever that the rule is one litter box plus one litter box extra for a cat. That means make much comfort your cat to urine or peeing. Keep the litter box in a outside of the house, that too need to be in so far from dog eating area. Avoid dark places to keep the litter box. If you have a very big house you can keep many litter boxes in each floor and maximum places and clean it often.

Please be aware that when a cat pees outside their litter box it's a cry for help. First rule out a physical problem. I keep Diascreen test strips on hand to check the urine but keep in mind if the cat has crystals there might not be blood to show up on the test strip to raise your attention to the problem so bringing a sample to the Vet might be the better idea. If it's emotional, try to put yourself in their paws to figure it out. Be logical. I use Stress Stopper by SpiritEssence.com which works well along with their Peacemaker kit especially if there's a new kitty introduced into the home. Simply put it in their water bowls twice a day or you can mist them as per the directions. PetWellBeing.com makes another great product called Pet Calm which you can spray on their canned cat food twice a day. They key to all of those remedies is to be consistence. You will definitely notice a behavior change within a week or two. If the cat is aging like one of my elder cats it's a symptom of Alzheimer.

New introduction with new cats

Contacting with other cats also will make irrespective urination and inappropriate peeing. So you can avoid your cat getting contact with new street cats. For this type of things you can consult a reliable knowledgeable veterinary doctor often.

One of the wonderful things we all love about cats is their soft, delicate fur. When they ingest dead, loose hairs in the process of grooming, what usually happens is that they pass through the digestive system without any problems. However, if too much hair builds up in the stomach, it causes irritation of the stomach lining, and this when a furball will be produced.

Fur balls can be a recurrent problem for cats, particularly those from long-haired breeds. It is an unpleasant experience for cats, and symptoms generally include vomiting, unproductive retching, constipation and a loss of appetite. This article looks at how cats suffering from fur balls can be treated, and what can be done to prevent them becoming a problem.

Sometimes cats who suffer from furballs may eat grass and garden plants to try and medicate themselves. Grass causes them to vomit, which may also bring up the fur ball as well. Thus, if you see your cat eating grass, this may be an early indication that they are suffering from fur balls.

One thing owners can do to help prevent fur balls is regular combing of their cat's hair. This will get rid of much of the dead hair before it can be ingested. Fine-toothed combs are best for short haired cats, while wide-toothed combs tend to be more suitable for long haired cats. It's not advisable to use brushes, because they are much less effective at getting all the loose hair out.

One of the traditional remedies for furballs is petroleum jelly. A small amount is applied to a cat's paw, so the cat can lick it up. The molecules of petroleum jelly are too large to be absorbed, so they retain their form and act as a lubricant to help the ingested hair through the cat's digestive system and out in the normal way.

There are varieties of petroleum jelly in different flavours (such as tuna) which are designed especially for cats. These will make the jelly more palatable to cats, so are a good option if your cat shows reluctance towards this treatment.

Another common treatment for the condition is natural herb tablets. These tablets are a mixture of herbs including valerian root, dandelion root, and senna leaf, powdered and pressed into tablet form. It works as a gentle laxative, so it is generally given for the relief of constipation or to help treat cats suffering from furballing.

It is recommended that cats who are experiencing noticeable discomfort because of furballs are given one of these tablets daily. In addition, it is also a good idea to give cats who are prone to fur balls one tablet a day during their moulting period. The one caveat to bear in mind when giving herbal treatments such as these is that they are not suitable for pregnant or lactating females.

Once cats get rid of their furballs, they normally recover quickly, and are soon back to normal. However, it is important to be aware that your cat may be suffering from dehydration because of the vomiting, and may need a special diet for a few days.

Just like how we suffer from hair loss, dogs too have this problem! Hair loss in the course of shedding is usual for dogs. For example, German shepherds and Bernese mountain dogs will shed more hair than wheaten terriers and a few types of Spaniels. Also, all the dogs will shed more during the longer days beginning in the summer than they will during the shorter days starting in the winter. This is due to the seasonal shedding rotations related to variations in light. However, when extreme shedding occurs, especially to the point of baldness, dog hair loss can be a signal of deeper issues.

Symptoms of Dog Hair Loss

Hair loss in dogs is more often than not accompanied by other symptoms like itching and skin irritation. A dog's hair loss indication can be the effect of numerous medical problems including mange, mites, ticks or dermatitis. Home remedies for treating dog hair loss are safe to try to provide momentary relief, but a definite opinion of the reasons should be taken from a vet. Mentioned below are some of the home remedies you can try to get rid of the problem of hair shedding.

Tips of Home Remedies for Dog Hair Loss

1. One of the best ways to reduce excessive shedding in dogs is to start with a healthy diet. Feed your dog with a homemade mix of fully-cooked rice, cooked vegetables and boiled chicken. This home food remedy may reduce the allergies caused by food to your dog and helps in reducing the hair fall.

2. Goldenseal is an excellent natural treatment for dog hair loss as long as it is not overdone. Make a weak mixture of goldenseal tea and apply it to the affected area. Goldenseal is powerful, so be sure not to make the tea too strong.

3. Another home remedy for hair shedding in dogs is to mix a small amount of flaxseed oil in your dog's food. Flaxseed oil contains high amounts of Omega 3, an excellent natural treatment for dog hair loss. After a few weeks you would see the change in your dog's hair fall. It is good for other health benefits too.

4. Olive oil is a good home remedy to apply on dog's coat and skin. It will help moisturize as well as pacify any pain caused by severe itching. Another benefit of olive oil is that it will choke mites, if those fleas are the cause of dog's hair loss. Olive oil is said to give the dog a fine and healthy coat with an amazing shine.

5. Lemon juice has natural antibacterial properties that can be used to treat excessive hair shedding in dogs. Introduce a slice of lemon in warm water and leave for five hours. Strain afterward and apply the lemon juice mixture as a rinse or as a spot treatment.

6. An additional home remedy to follow is to pat your dog in the backyard after the bath and then brush him down. By this way, all the unwanted hair on the dog's coat is removed. Regular baths encourage loose hair to fall out in the tub (or outside) instead of on your furniture. However over-bathing can cause dry skin, which causes fur to fall out.

Believe it or not, your dog is nothing more than a wild animal that has been domesticated for a long period of time. And, like people, their high quality diet comes from organic, native one. The best way for a dog to eat the native diet is preparing a raw dog food recipe.

At the beginning, preparing a meal for your dog raw food can take a little more time than just filling a bowl of dog food commercial. However, after the establishment of reliable sources of raw ingredients and get a routine going, eventually it becomes very easy.

Most people who thrive on raw chicken to use as the basis of the diet of your dog. Chicken is an excellent source of bone and fat, easy to digest for dogs, readily available almost everywhere, and relatively inexpensive.

Please note that your organs, bones and fat are all just as important as the meat in the diet alone dog. Feeding your dog a chicken without the skin, there is a genuine raw food diet.

A good rule to follow is 35% meat, 25% of muscle, bone, organs of 15%, 29% fat, and 5% of fruit and vegetables for the average adult dog. Puppies may, if necessary, slightly more fruits and vegetables.

The great thing about the raw food diet is that every meal does not have to be perfect. Some dog owners go overboard trying to thoroughly mix the ingredients together in order to achieve the exact percentages.

Really, it is too frustrating and a waste of time. Feeding raw is quite simple. Basically, regardless of the type of raw food you have on hand, just to feed your dog. And then, at the time (about a week), try to incorporate more variety to achieve optimum balance.

Here are a few ideas for raw food recipes dog, the dog probably really likes:

1. Raw chicken or turkey
Cut the meat off the bones of poultry in large pieces from all over the skin and connective tissue intact. Feedings anywhere from 1/3 to 1 pound pounds, depending on the size of the dog.

2. Raw beef
Each piece of beef discount is allowed. This does not mean, however, ground beef. Cut the beef into small pieces.
If possible, get beef from a local butcher, not packaged from the grocery store because they are filled with sodium, preservatives and other ingredients secret.
Perhaps there is a farmers market in your area? Again, the feed dog anywhere from 1/3 to 1 pound pounds, depending on their size.

3. Raw Frozen Sardines
Do not thaw raw sardines before introducing them to your dog. Make sure that the bones, weight, and head are intact. Not every dog will like sardines, but go ahead and try.
There is an incredible amount of nutrition in sardines in this incomparable source of Omega-rich-3 and Omega-6, which will do wonders for your dog's brain development, skin and hair. Two, maybe three sardines should be plenty for one meal.

Other raw meat can contain green tripe, lamb and even goat.

The weight and size of your dog, in principle, determine the amount of food should be eaten feeding.

In addition, it is important to remember that feeding a dog treats them all day is not only a very bad habit, but it makes them unbalanced diet as well.

Stick to raw dog food recipes and feed them the same hour of the day, in order to effectively optimize your diet and ensure their good health.

Note: Never give your dog cooked bones (of any kind), because they are fragile and can seriously damage your dog's digestive system.
